Day Thirty-Nine: Returning to the Dermatologist and getting light therapy.

Well yesterday I returned to the dermatologist to check on my progress and get another dose of Blue Light therapy to kill bacteria (30 minutes, $50). So far, my skin is looking horrible! Particularly right after the dermabrasion, my skin was red and I broke out everywhere!

Now, my skin is peeling, red and quite scary. However, my dermatologist has encouraged me to stick with the program and continue to use the Retin-A along with the other products from his skin care line. He explained that my skin will continue to get worse as it brings out all the "stuff" that was in my skin. If you want to know what this "stuff" is, read the What is acne vulgaris? article.

Well, I am willing to stick with the program, particularly because I work from home and can avoid all human contact until my skin improves. Fortunately, for people that can't do this, oil-free makeup is allowed on the program. I have been using my Bare Escentuals Foundation.

Hello,
I read on your site the topic acne&make-up, where you pointed out that mica mineral is bad for an acne prone skin.

'Stay away from glitter- Glitter is often achieved with the mica mineral, something that is very irritating and can clog pores. They often sneak mica into blushes to give your skin a shimmery glow but this is very harmful to acne prone skin.'

You are using bare escentuals foundation, but do you know that one of the ingredients of this product is the mica mineral?
I use I.d. bare escentuals myself that's why I'm really curious where you have the information of the 'bad' mica mineral from. Because it's true what you wrote, than our make-up we use isn't that good as we think!
Thanks alot for your reaction
Friendly greetings from the Netherlands
Corinne

Hi everyone,

I found that the only thing that worked for at treating my acne was my beautyskin light therpay unit, up until using it i had tried most things available with little or no effect. I had just about given up when a friend told me about the beautyskin, i did a lot of research into it and found the uk supplier and purchased one, i have been using it for 3 months now and my acne has gone, my skin is the clearist it has ever been and ive noticed recently the light has started to reduce old acne scars. I am so impressed! Ive put a link to the site i got mine from, they offer next day delivery and a money back offer.

Good Luck!
