The Cause of Acne

What causes acne (retention hyperkeratosis) to occur? No one knows for sure but there are many things thought to contribute to it. The most important of these factors is the one we have the least control over, our genes. In other words, if your parents had acne you are more likely to have it yourself. This is not very helpful to the acne sufferer- unfortunately we can not choose our parents. However, there are other contributors that are more under our control.
