Acne Rx, by James E. Fulton Jr., M.D., Ph.D. (the creator of Retin-A, Panoxyl and E-gel)

• Fulton gives lots of very useful (and innovative) tips on how to deal with acne- but it is very detailed! Although I think it is important for acne sufferers to know what acne is, I don’t think they have to know all the scientific details and history. What you really want to know is how to get rid of it!

• When I attempted to put his treatment plan into action for myself, I was very confused as to what program I should select and what products I should use.

Unblemished : Stop Breakouts! Fight Acne! Transform Your Life! Reclaim Your Self-Esteem with the Proven 3-Step Program Using Over-the-Counter Medications, by Katie Roday, M.D. and Kathy Fields, M.D. (the creators of ProActiv)

• Good understanding of the mental anguish associated with acne and they include several helpful pointers for dealing with the stress.

• Good descriptions of all the acne treatments available, including how they work, their side effects and contraindications.

• Includes separate treatment approaches for babies/children, teenage girls, teenage boys, adult women and adult men; with a special chapter on acne during perimenopause and menopause.

• They give specific products that can be used (not just ProActiv/Rodan and Fields), including a list of makeup and sunscreens that will not trigger acne; as well as step-by-step instructions for their use.
